Hypocrisy or just confusion
I’m sure his intentions are good, but Jim Shrewsbury believes that the downtown renaissance is no longer a “goofy, crazy idea” because the banks tell him so:
When the upper-middle class, white business community thinks it’s a good idea, you can bet they’ve looked at every angle of it and it’s a good indicator if they’re willing to put money there.

The last answer is priceless, as well, and I’m not sure what to make of the Mike “St. Louis is too white” Jones nod after that earlier statement.
